October 2022 Tea of the Month: Strawberry Oolong
We say goodbye to summer with a Tie Kuan Yin oolong tea blended with strawberry and papaya this month. This is a well-balanced blend that allows each component to really come through and shine without any one flavor taking over. Tie Kuan Yin is a green oolong, meaning it is not heavily fired or roasted which produces a lighter and more floral cup. It originates from Anxi in Fujian Province, China. This region is home to the Wuyi Mountains where many highly-prized oolongs are grown and produced. Real, organic, pieces of dried strawberry and papaya are blended with a high-quality Tie Kuan Yin tea to produce a light and wonderful aroma and taste of fruit which compliments the lighter nature of this particular oolong.
Tie Kuan Yin, or Tieguanyin, means "Iron Goddess of Mercy" and is named for Guanyin the bodhisattva associated with compassion and also the lotus sutra and position. "Some Buddhists believe that when one of their adherents departs from this world, they are placed by Guanyin in the heart of a lotus, and then sent to the western pure land of Sukhāvatī." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tieguanyin
Great Box. Not sure what the ticket is for though.
